We are reaching out to you today to ask for your support in sponsoring an engineering undergrad/graduate student paper/presentation competition at the University of Maryland. We are keen to help our young talent find opportunities, gain experience and feel prepared to make strong strides in their career of choice.
We have already secured the premises at the University of Maryland with help from the Engineering Department and we are looking for judges to help judge the competition on May 5th from 10am-2pm. We are accepting abstracts now through next week and will reach back out to students to schedule their presentations.
We are also looking for some financial help to raise funds for the awards we plan to hand out. We are looking for a modest amount of funds (~$1000) to hold the competition. We are purposely keeping things modest to allow the full extent of the funds to go directly to award winners. Therefore, we are asking for your contributions - no matter how small - to help us in our efforts. We also encourage you to join us during the event itself as audience to encourage our young presenters.
ASEI has a strong history of supporting our young students in their quest for establishing solid careers. We have a 30+ year legacy that needs to be preserved for future generations. Please help us to keep the organization vital and active. Please read through the flyer that the student chapter of ASEI-UMD created (attached) and please donate whatever amount you feel you can to the link below. The national ASEI Board is also helping us to promote this event and to collecting funding. All sponsors who donate will be listed in our event brochure. If you are interested in a corporate donation, please respond to this email in addition to your donation and send us your logo so that we can include it and offer some brand recognition for your support.
